Executive Summary
Few of today’s 26 million refugees can safely repatriate; therefore, we need approaches facilitating host community inclusion and driving solutions, now. Those approaches already exist. Refugee-led organizations (RLOs) are facilitating inclusion in host communities with awareness outsiders don’t have, and driving solutions for people outsiders can’t reach. The evidence is clear: RLO efforts are community-driven, context intelligent, and culturally nuanced. But, they rarely have the resources — funding, operational elements and political influence — to maximize impact. This project will ensure these resources reach local RLOs. Led by a global coalition of 5 successful RLOs, and ally/convener Asylum Access, this RLO-to-RLO support approach will resource, capacitize and position ~50 existing, local RLOs to scale their influence and impact, reaching over 2,000,000 refugees. Beyond the project, our game-changing, “pay-it-forward” model and Fund will center RLOs within systems of response, catalyzing inclusion and solutions for refugees around the world.
