Executive Summary

Latinos are making their homes in the South at a higher rate than other parts of the country. Despite arriving in a region entrenched in structural racism while facing discrimination towards immigrants, we make our way in our new communities through hard work, commitment to family, and big dreams. Systemic barriers perpetuate severe disparities in Latino income, poverty and homeownership levels, resulting in household wealth of one-eighth that of Whites.

Latino Community Credit Union and Latino Community Development Center will ensure a seat at the table for Latinos by expanding our proven, Latino-led model of access to financial services, products, and education in two ways. First, we will expand financial products beyond the current footprint of North Carolina to South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Second, we will enhance our community assets by developing a Cultural Center, expanding civic participation, providing racial equity training to help others understand the experience of Latinos, and increasing Latino philanthropy.
